Occupational therapy

The adult inpatient Occupational Therapy team provides assessment and treatment for people whose ability to function in daily life has been disrupted by illness, injury, the ageing process developmental problems or disability. The Occupational Therapist will assess how patients are managing to complete their everyday tasks and work toward maximising their previous functional abilities. They will help with facilitating discharge from hospital by providing assistive equipment, advice and onward referrals. The Occupational Therapist will make recommendations for care packages, and liaise with community services for additional support or a period of rehabilitation.

The service is provided across a wide range of specialities in the Trust.

The Occupational Therapy Department offers a seven day service across some specialities and all clinical staff are expected to support this on a rota system.

There is an outpatient Hand Therapy service delivered on both sites. The team manage a variety of hand injuries and conditions. These include Carpal Tunnel, De Quervains, OA/RA, wrist and finger fractures, RSI/tendonitis, any post-surgical rehab/complications.
